JPC For Waqf: At present, the picture is not clear whether the tenure of the Joint Committee of Parliament formed on the Waqf Amendment Bill will be extended or not, but according to the information coming out amidst all this, the next meeting of the committee will be held on Wednesday 27th November.
According to information received from sources, in tomorrow’s meeting, Speaker Jagdambika Pal may be asked to present her amendments on the Waqf Amendment Bill. However, opposition MPs are continuously demanding that the tenure of the committee should be extended and the committee should not prepare its report in such a hurry.
How will the final report come?
According to the information received from the sources, if the Speaker does not ask for extension of the tenure of the committee, then the committee will try to table its report in the House as soon as possible, but before preparing the final report, a draft report will be prepared. And its copy will be given to all the members of the committee. After reading that draft report, the committee members will put forward their suggestions and amendments before the committee, after discussion on which the final report will be prepared.
What will happen if the tenure is not extended?
Earlier on Monday, opposition MPs met the Lok Sabha Speaker and demanded extension of the tenure of the committee. However, at present no decision has been taken by the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding extending the tenure of the committee. In such a situation, if the tenure of the committee is not extended by the Lok Sabha Speaker, then it is possible that the final report of the Joint Committee of Parliament may be presented before the House in the next 1-2 weeks. If this happens, the Waqf Amendment Bill will be passed in the same session. The way may be clear.
