Underground Ocean: Many scientific discoveries in recent times have shocked the world. In this sequence, now such a discovery has come forward, which cannot even be imagined. In this discovery, three times more water than the Earth has been discovered. Scientists have said that it is estimated that there is three times more water 700 kilometers below the earth than what is above the earth.
A new discovery has revealed that 700 kilometers below the Earth’s hard surface, there is a huge ocean in a rock called Ringwoodite, which may contain three times more water than the total water including the Earth’s oceans. A scientific research was published in the year 2014 titled ‘Dehydration Melting at the Top of Lower Mantle’, in which detailed information has been given about it. Information about the properties of ringwoodite is also given in it. Geophysicist Steve Jacobsen, head of the research team, said, ‘Ringwoodite has a sponge-like substance, which absorbs water. Its crystal structure has some special properties which attract hydrogen and trap water inside it.
This is how the ocean inside the Earth was discovered
Steve Jacobsen said, ‘I think we are seeing evidence of the water cycle all over the Earth, due to which we can estimate how much water is on the Earth. Scientists have been searching for deep water for many decades. According to the report, to detect this hidden ocean inside the Earth, more than 2000 seismometers were installed in America and data of waves of more than 500 earthquakes was prepared. During this time, the earthquake waves were experienced to slow down while passing through the rocks, which indicates a large water reservoir.
Scientists engaged in collecting seismic data
Jacobsen said that the reservoir of water found between the rocks at such a depth can change our understanding of the water cycle. He told that it is okay for this water to remain inside the earth. If this much water reaches the earth, nothing will be visible except the peaks of the mountains, the entire earth will be submerged in water. Now scientists around the world want to collect seismic data, so that the understanding of water can be further strengthened.
