Speaking to news agency ANI, he said, “The meeting of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board is being held in Karnataka. Scholars from the Delhi Muslim Personal Law Board will also organize a two-day conference in which the bill which will be passed by the central government will be discussed. It is trying to impose this on the Muslim community in India.”
‘An attempt is being made to impose Waqf Bill’
Ahmed said, “We are representatives of minorities and Muslim community in India. We are all demanding from the central government to discuss the Waqf Amendment Bill. Along with the government, JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) is also supporting Muslims in this legal hurdle. Instead of supporting the community, it is trying to impose it.”
‘Government is not considering the issues of Muslims’
Congress MLC Ahmed said that the central government has constituted a JPC and it includes only those leaders of his faction who are working against the interests of the Muslim community in India. He said, “The central government which is adamant on bringing amendments in the existing law is not considering the ideas and issues related to the Muslim community.”
The Congress leader said, “That is why today the members of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, who have come from Delhi in Bengaluru, have called an important meeting in which it will be discussed what will happen if the central government starts imposing and enforcing laws on the minority community. If we try, what will be the future strategy?”
