He said that due to daily operations, there is a possibility of slight shortfall in the runway, which is rectified after this inspection.
The airport has two runways
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, owned by the Adani Group, has two crossing runways, Runway 09/27 and Runway 14/32. Both runways will remain closed for some time on 2 May.
‘Operations will resume after 5 pm’
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) said that both the runways will be temporarily closed on May 2 from 11 am to 5 pm for pre-monsoon maintenance and repair work. CSMIA said that NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued in this regard. CSMIA said that all concerned stakeholders have been informed about this exercise 6 months in advance and this has also helped airlines to plan their flight schedules.
The airport said that the operations will be resumed after 5 pm. Let us tell you that Mui Airport is the second busiest single-runway airport in the world, with around 900 flights operating from here every day.
