Mukesh Goyal will be the presiding officer of Delhi Mayor election, LG approves CM’s proposal

Delhi Mayor Election 2023: The name of the presiding officer for the Delhi Mayor election has been decided. Delhi’s LG Vinay Kumar Saxena has also stamped the name of Mukesh Goyal. AAP’s senior councilor Mukesh Goyal’s name was sent by CM Arvind Kejriwal to LG for approval, which has now been approved. The presiding officer is the senior most councilor of the house. The election of Delhi Mayor is to be held on 26 April.

CM Kejriwal had sent the proposal

On April 21, CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Mayor’s election is to be held on April 26. As per past convention, I have approved the name of senior most Mukesh Goyal as the presiding officer of the session for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor.” D. Sent the file to LG. The decision is binding on LG till he decides to refer the matter to the President.”

Whereas BJP has changed its candidates. This time BJP has fielded Shikha Rai for the post of mayor and Soni Pandey for the post of deputy mayor. At first BJP said that it will not field its candidate in the election this time, however, later it was decided to give candidate in the mayoral election. The BJP had done the same last time too, but later the party fielded candidates for the post of mayor and deputy mayor.
