MP campaign ends on eight seats in the third phase, these stalwarts including Scindia, Shivraj, Digvijay Singh are in the fray

MP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Lok Sabha Elections Under this, the third phase of voting is to be held on May 7. Today the election noise regarding this has stopped. In the third phase of elections, voting will be held on eight Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh: Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal and Rajgarh. Of these, Guna, Vidisha and Rajgarh are hot seats from where the electoral fate of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former CM Digvijaya Singh respectively will be decided.

In Madhya Pradesh, voting was held on six seats in the first phase on April 19 and the voting percentage was 66.44. In the second phase on April 26, 67 percent voting was recorded on six seats.

Jyotiraditya Scindia

Guna is the traditional seat of the Scindia family on which Jyotiraditya had to face defeat in 2019. Then he contested the elections on Congress ticket. He was defeated by BJP’s KP Yadav. Now Jyotiraditya is part of BJP. Here Jyotiraditya is contesting against Congress’s Yadvendra Yadav, whose father Deshraj Singh had won the election in 2002 against Scindia.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, popularly known as ‘Mama’ in Madhya Pradesh, is contesting elections from Vidisha for the sixth time. He has been MP from here five times. After winning the 2023 assembly elections, BJP gave Mohan Yadav a chance to take charge of the state and he became the new CM. At the same time, speculations started about Shivraj Singh Chouhan that he would go to the Centre. It happened as planned. BJP made him its candidate from Vidisha. Shivraj Singh Chauhan has also said that he will not go to the Center just like that but will bring a gift for the state. Shivraj is returning to Vidisha after 18 years. This seat was earlier left by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and after Shivraj became the CM, Sushma Swaraj has been the MP from here. Congress has given ticket to Pratap Bhanu Sharma from Vidisha.

Digvijay Singh

Digvijay Singh, who is known in the politics of Madhya Pradesh by the name of Diggi Raja, is contesting elections from Rajgarh this time. In 2019, Congress had given him ticket from Bhopal but he was defeated by Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, who contested the elections for the first time. Now after 30 years he is returning to Rajgarh. He has contested elections from the seat thrice, out of which he won twice. However, after becoming CM, he left Rajgarh seat in 1993 and his brother Laxman Singh became MP from here. Digvijay Singh will face two-time BJP MP Rodmal Nagar. So far, Congress has won this seat nine times and BJP has won it six times.

Although there is a tough contest between BJP and Congress on all the seats of Madhya Pradesh, the contest on these three seats is going to be very interesting. Along with the party, the credibility of these three leaders is also at stake.
