Bidding will be held on many famous players
All the 10 IPL teams had released their respective retention lists on October 31. A total of 46 players were retained before the mega auction, on which a total amount of Rs 558.5 crore has been spent. Heinrich Klaasen was the most expensive among the retained players, who was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 23 crore. On the other hand, Virat Kohli has become the player to be retained for the highest amount in IPL history. He has been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 21 crore.
Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders are the two teams who have retained all the 6 players. These teams will no longer be able to play the Right to Match card in the auction. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans have retained five players each, so these teams will have permission to use the Right to Match card on any one player. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings had surprised everyone by retaining only 2 players. Famous players like Rishabh Pant, Jos Buttler, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are going to enter the mega auction.
