Raj Thackeray on Karnataka Elections 2023: In the Karnataka assembly elections, the party of Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray is seen on one platform regarding the issue of Marathis. Both the parties are supporting Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti. MNS Chief Raj Thackeray tweeted on Monday (May 8) and appealed to the people to vote for the candidates of MES.
Raj Thackeray tweeted that the Karnataka assembly elections are going to be held on May 10. I appeal to my Marathi brothers and sisters in the border areas to unite and vote for the candidates of the Maharashtra Integration Committee. The candidates of other parties may be Marathi, but after getting elected, they will not open their mouth in the assembly against the strangulation of Marathi language or the injustice done to the Marathi people in the border areas.
“Marathi people are being harassed”
He further said that I firmly believe that you should respect the language and culture of your state. The brothers living in the border area for many generations have respected the Kannada language and culture here, but even if the government there harasses the Marathi people, tries to strangle the Marathi language, it will not be tolerated. When the Karnataka government once again tried to raise the issue of demarcation, I said that Karnataka and Maharashtra are basically homogeneous.
“There should be legislators of their own language”
The MNS chief said that many people here have their family deities in Karnataka while many Kannadigas have their family deities in Maharashtra. In short, the ties between the two states are strong. Then, if the Karnataka government takes a conciliatory stand, there will be no time for struggle, but whichever party comes to power there, there is no difference in their behaviour. Therefore, there should be Marathi speaking legislators in the legislature, who would represent the Marathi identity of the region, who would raise voice for the issues of the Marathi people. For this, the people of the border areas have a chance on May 10.
Uddhav Thackeray’s party also supported
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has also campaigned for the Maharashtra Integration Committee candidate. He sought votes for Murlidhar Patil, the MES candidate from Khanapur. During this, while addressing an election rally, Raut accused the BJP of hating Maharashtra and said that whenever the Marathi psyche is strong, it hatches a conspiracy. Be it the Marathi speaking border areas of Maharashtra or Karnataka.
He said that whether it is Uddhav Thackeray or NCP president Sharad Pawar, he has always had affection for the integration committee and the Marathi people in the Marathi-speaking areas of Karnataka. Let us tell you that voting for the Karnataka elections will be held on May 10 and the results will come on May 13.
