Texas: In Texas, USA, treatment related to hormones and surgery for transgender children (minor transgender) was banned. Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed legislation on Friday banning the treatment of transgender minors. Now Texas has become the biggest state in America to ban such treatment.
The governor of Texas decided to do so, following in the footsteps of Florida governor Ron DeSantis. Significantly, earlier the Governor of Florida had also signed a similar law in May. Explain that Texas and Florida are the second and third most populous states in America.
Transgender undergoing treatment will not be affected
Under this law, doctors have been prevented from performing mastectomy or surgery. In such a situation, the doctors of the state have been prohibited from sterilizing, removing healthy tissue or body parts. Additionally, Texas law prohibits medical professionals from prescribing hormone blockers or performing gender transition surgery on anyone under the age of 18. However, according to this law, the ban will not affect the transgender children who are already undergoing treatment, but they will be barred from taking further medicines.
Opposition expressed opposition to this law
Currently, the issue of transgender rights is hot in American politics. The people of the Democratic Party, who were not supporting this law earlier, have expressed their strong opposition and have also condemned it. At the same time, the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas said that it would file a lawsuit against the ban.
Let us tell that now Texas has joined at least 14 other states, which have imposed such bans. As per an estimate, there are around 30,000 transgender children in the age group of 13 to 17 living in the state.
