KKR vs RCB: It seems as if records are raining in IPL 2024. Last Saturday, in the SRH vs DC match, Delhi Capitals batsman Jake Fraser McGurk scored a half-century in just 15 balls. McGurk is the batsman to score the fastest fifty so far in the current season. When the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore took place on Sunday, KKR’s opening batsman Phil Salt was seen batting in a different style. Salt had made his intentions clear on the very first ball of his innings.
McGurk’s record was going to be broken within 24 hours
McGurk had completed his half-century in 15 balls. Whereas Phil Salt had scored 48 runs in 13 balls by the 5th over of the match against RCB. He could have completed his fifty in 14 balls by hitting the very next ball. By doing this, he could have become the second fastest batsman to score a half-century in the history of IPL. But he lost his wicket on the second ball of the 5th over to Mohammad Siraj. Phil Salt scored 48 runs in 14 balls in this match, during which he also hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in a stormy manner.
Let us remind you that many records were made in the SRH vs DC match last Saturday. In that match, while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Travis Head scored a half-century in just 16 balls. With this, he has become the player to score the fastest fifty for SRH along with Abhishek Sharma. On the other hand, for Delhi Capitals, Jake Fraser McGurk has now become the player to score the fastest half-century for Delhi Capitals. Well, if we talk about KKR, the record of scoring the fastest half-century for this team is in the name of Pat Cummins, who scored fifty in 14 balls in 2022. Phil Salt could have equaled Cummins’ record in the match against RCB.
