Waqf Amendment Bill: Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani warned the Central and all state governments to stop giving protection to communal elements and their agenda. Madani said that roads should be built and initiatives should be taken for the development of the country, but if discrimination among humans continues on the basis of caste and religion, then it will be the biggest betrayal of the country. Madani has even demanded Nitish Kumar and Chirag Paswan to oppose the bill and if they do so, the Modi government will be in danger.
Maulana Madani further said that the current situation of this country is extremely sensitive and worrying. It is sad to say that systematic and organized efforts are being made to establish dominance of a particular class and to humiliate, marginalize and deprive other classes. This despicable campaign is not only supported by the government but is also being encouraged by the government. Especially when it comes to Muslims, the conspiracies to make them legally helpless, socially isolated and economically weak are at their peak. Their religion, their identity and existence have been made unnecessary, even intolerable.
‘Maintenance of Waqf should be like SGPC’
Referring to the Waqf Act, Maulana Madani said that Waqf is a religious matter, Muslims make Waqf of their properties for the reward of Akharat (merit after death). Remember that these Waqfs are not owned by any king or any government, these are 100% Waqf properties given by Muslims. This Waqf is the heritage of our ancestors, today we cannot see it being ruined like this. We have been complaining about its dilapidation and illegal occupation for decades, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has repeatedly demanded from the governments that the management and maintenance of Waqf properties should be done like SGPC, but The governments did not pay even an iota of attention and kept watching the deterioration of Waqf.
‘Will keep fighting till the last breath’
Madani said that the present government is amending the Waqf Act in such a way that the purpose and goal of Waqf is completely abolished. We will not accept any amendment whose purpose is to increase government control over Waqf. We want to make it clear that governments should not interfere in our religious matters, otherwise we will fight you within the ambit of the Constitution and will keep fighting till the last breath.
Urged Nitish Kumar and Chirag Paswan to oppose the bill
Important resolutions regarding the protection of Waqf properties, mosques, Islamic madrassas and the honor of the Prophet were also passed in the meeting. In an important resolution, the Waqf Amendment Bill was strongly opposed, calling it fatal for Muslims. In the resolution, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Lok Janshakti Party President Chirag Paswan and other secular parties were demanded to strongly oppose the bill keeping in mind the interests of Muslims.
‘Appeal to constitute Constitution Bench’
The gathering expressed deep concern over the ongoing communal campaign against mosques and appealed to the Supreme Court to constitute a constitution bench to consolidate all the cases under the Special Protection of Places of Worship Act, 1991. The participants in the meeting appealed to the court to give a decision on this matter as soon as possible under Articles 142 and 139A so that the safety of the mosques can be ensured.
