Margashirsha Amavasya 2024: Sunday 01 December i.e. today is Margashirsha Amavasya. It is also called Aghan Amavasya. This time, the last month of the year i.e. December (December 2024) has also started from the day of Amavasya.
Astrologer Anish Vyas explains that according to Panchang, Amavasya Tithi falls on the next day of Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha every month. This day has great religious importance for worship, bathing, offering to ancestors etc.
On the other hand, it is also believed that on the night of Amavasya Tithi, negative powers become active and their effect increases. In this black night, works like witchcraft, tantra-mantra, attaining spiritual achievements etc. take place. That’s why many people are afraid of the new moon night. In Hindu religion, the night of Amavasya is called Nishachari i.e. black night. Even in the scriptures, some activities are prohibited on this day.
The mystery of the dark new moon night
In fact, Amavasya night is the darkest night of the entire month. The reason for this is that the Moon is not visible on this day. Whereas in astrology, Moon is considered to be the factor of mind. In such a situation, when the moon is not visible, people become very emotional and agitation increases in the human body. People who are weak hearted and more influenced by negative thoughts can easily fall prey to negative forces on this night.
Do not do this work on Amavasya
- It is believed that on the night of Amavasya, Tantrik Sadhana is performed in the crematorium and the evil powers are awakened. Therefore, do not go out of the house on Amavasya night. Especially do not go to cemeteries, crematoriums or such places which are deserted.
- One should also avoid getting haircut and wearing black colored clothes on this day.
- If you have bad thoughts then do worship on Amavasya and do not keep the house dark. Also light a lamp at the entrance of the house. Worshiping God provides mental peace.
- On Amavasya Tithi, the ancestors get displeased by eating non-vegetarian food, drinking alcohol, consuming things like lentils, radish, mustard greens, gram dal. Therefore, consumption of these things is also considered prohibited during the day.
- Amavasya date is not considered auspicious even for auspicious works.
