Manmohan Singh Died: Dr. Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist, has not only been the Prime Minister of the country, but he also served on many important constitutional posts before becoming the Prime Minister and a major credit for liberalization in India goes to Dr. Manmohan Singh. But today, instead of talking about his political life, we are going to talk about another aspect of his life.
Singh spent a large part of his life in the capital Delhi, hence he was very fond of Delhi. Especially he has a deep connection with Old Delhi and the Chandni Chowk area there.
Was involved in staging Ramlila in Old Delhi continuously for 15 years.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was also very fond of the Ramlilas of Old Delhi, which is why he used to go to Old Delhi every year for 15 consecutive years to see the staging of Ramlila. After becoming PM, from 2004 to 2013, he used to participate in the Ramlila festival organized at Ramlila Maidan every year and used to shoot arrows at Ravana to give the message of victory of good over evil.
On many occasions, former Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi also participated in the Ramlila festival with him to enjoy the Ramlila staging. At the same time, on one occasion in the year 2017, he was also seen in the Dussehra festival with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At that time he had participated in the Leela organized at the Red Fort grounds.
Due to this the process of going to Ramlila was broken
When he was the Prime Minister, he continued participating in Ramlilas, but even after stepping down from the post of Prime Minister in 2014, this trend continued till 2019. Last time he gave the message of peace by flying a pigeon in the year 2019 during Dussehra festival. But after that, the global Corona epidemic in the year 2020 and then his deteriorating health kept him away from Ramlila festival.
Had special attachment to Chandni Chowk also
Jaiprakash Aggarwal, former patron of Shri Ramlila Committee of Ramlila Maidan and a Lok Sabha MP during the tenure of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, says that Singh not only enjoyed the staging of Ramlila, but by participating in this event, he devoutly worshiped Lord Ram, Laxman. And used to perform aarti of Mother Sita and apply tilak on her. Aggarwal said that Singh also had a special attachment to the Chandni Chowk area and often during his meetings, he used to talk about Chandni Chowk and get information about it.
