According to news agency Reuters, the reason for the explosion and subsequent firing is not clear. However, some media reports claimed that a suicide attack took place and after this some people were also taken captive in the building. However, officials have not confirmed this.

Reuters quoted witnesses as saying that workers inside the building had been taken to a safe place by authorities and no one was allowed to go out. He said that the bomb blasts may have taken place at different exit gates.
