Major accident in Burari, Delhi, five people injured after explosion in factory


Delhi News: News of an explosion in an illegal firecracker factory in the country’s capital Delhi has come to light. It is being told that there was an explosion in an illegal firecracker factory in Burari area on Sunday evening. During this period four people were seriously injured. An official of Delhi Fire Service gave this information. Fire department chief Atul Garg said that three of the injured people suffered serious burn injuries while a fire department official got injured in his hand while trying to control the fire.

Garg said in a statement, “A fire broke out at 4.23 pm on the ground floor of a building located in Pradhan Enclave of Burari area. There was an illegal factory for making firecrackers in the premises and there were residential rooms on the first floor.” According to the department, the fire caused by the explosion caused chaos in the densely populated area. The officer said that five fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot and rescue operations are being carried out. He said that the 27-year-old Himanshu suffered almost 100 percent burns in the incident.

The injured youth was taken to Burari Hospital

The officer said that Anand and Ravi Prakash suffered 25 percent burns while Vijay Pandey suffered 40 percent burns. The seriously injured youth was taken to Burari Hospital and later referred to Lok Nayak Hospital for treatment. Garg said that the other three victims are undergoing treatment at Burari Hospital. Fire officer Devendra Sandhu of JHP fire station sustained injuries on his right hand due to the second explosion during the operation.

The department head said that he was treated for his hand by ambulance staff on the spot. The fire department said that firecrackers were being made illegally on the ground floor of the building spread over 500 square yards. Explosives kept in the factory further increased the fire.

Eyewitnesses narrated the story of the explosion

The people living on the first floor were not harmed and were evacuated in time. Eyewitnesses said that the explosions were very powerful, after which dense smoke spread all around and the entire area was filled with smoke. No immediate statement has come from Delhi Police.
