Claim is being made to burn Modi’s effigy
A user named chintamunnee.amalanand posted this video on the social media platform Facebook and wrote, “While burning the effigy of Modi in Karnataka, the lungi of five Congressmen caught fire! See how all this happened. Now Modi ji’s effigies should also teach a lesson.” Have started. This is the strength of Modiji.”
This video is from the year 2012
Fact Crescendo investigated this video and found that this viral video is from Kerala and is old. Actually, those seen in this video are KSU workers and they were burning the effigy of the Vice Chancellor of MG University. During investigation, after taking some screenshots of this video and searching, reports of this video were published in many private news channels and websites.
The claim made in the viral post turned out to be fake
This video was uploaded on Asia Net News in the year 2012, in which there was mention of the protest march of KSU workers against the Vice Chancellor of MG University. This makes it clear that this video is old and has no connection with the current general elections.
The KSU flag can be seen in the video published on the YouTube channel. KSU is the student union of the All India Congress Committee, which is active in Kerala. This confirms that the viral video has nothing to do with Karnataka. The video is from Kerala.
A report regarding this video was published in The Times of India on 24 July 2012. According to this report, the students seen in the video were protesting against the alleged corruption committed by the Vice Chancellor of MG University. Some protesters were also injured due to the fire and were admitted to the hospital.
