Live: India close to victory, New Zealand in bad shape; Threat of clean sweep averted?

Team India looks very close to victory in the third and last Test of the series being played against New Zealand in Mumbai. New Zealand’s batsmen could not do anything special while batting in the second innings, due to which Team India’s victory seemed easy. By the end of the second day of the match, New Zealand, batting in the second innings, had put 171/9 runs on the board.

Kiwi team has a lead of 143 runs. Indian bowlers have to take only one more wicket of New Zealand, after which they will have to take the field for run chase. It is expected that India will not have a target of more than 150 runs, which Team India will easily achieve and register victory. If the Indian team takes down the last wicket of New Zealand at the beginning of the first session of the third day, then Team India can register victory in the second session.

So far the spinners have dominated

So far the spinners of both the teams have appeared dominant in the Mumbai Test. Wankhede pitch has been witnessing excellent turn since day one, which is becoming a problem for the batsmen. Most of the Indian batsmen have also proved unsuccessful in playing this spin. Now it will be interesting to see what plan Team India comes up with against the spinners in the run chase.

Team India would like to avoid clean sweep

In the three-match Test series, Team India has lost the series after losing the first two matches. Now the Indian team would like to avoid a clean sweep against New Zealand at any cost. Earlier, India had faced a clean sweep in the home Test series in 2000 i.e. 24 years ago. It will be a big challenge for India to save the clean sweep. Now it will be interesting to see what the result of Mumbai test is.
