PM Modi 6G Network: Amidst the increasing coverage of 5G in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the exercise of 6G. He has asked Cisco, the world-class networking company, to undertake research and development (R&D) on next generation telecommunication technology to further empower millions of people. Company CEO Maria Martinez said that she and other top executives of the company had a conversation with Prime Minister Modi last week about emerging technologies, in which they told how this technology can help the country in innovation and manufacturing. It was very exciting to meet the Prime Minister and other top leaders to see their great commitment to making India a global manufacturing and export hub of technology. 5G is a huge opportunity for us to do more.
Now there will be entry of 6G in India
He told that PM Modi asked him to work on 6G, because after the arrival of 5G, the Prime Minister is already preparing its blueprint. We also talked about joint R&D on 6G. We are very excited to see 5G roll-out globally, including in India. We’re also very excited about 6G. PM Modi has already emphasized that the 6G initiative will create new opportunities for innovators, industries and startups. In March, he released a vision document detailing India’s plans to develop and launch 6G telecom services in a few years. Cisco is also working with telecom operators in India to monetize personal 5G use cases as a service model. The company is looking at the rapid expansion of 5G.
Fast work on 5G
Reliance Jio, Infocomm and Bharti Airtel are rapidly rolling out 5G in cities and towns. The country aims to provide 5G connectivity to every nook and corner of the country by the end of this year. Cisco Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins also discussed with PM Modi how the company has doubled down on manufacturing to boost exports from the country. The global networking giant has announced that it is targeting over $1 billion combined domestic production and exports in the coming years by offering a robust and secure device ecosystem. Dave West, President, Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China (APJC), said India is making rapid progress on the 5G rollout and the energy level for digitization in the country is impressive. India is a key market for Cisco and it has the second largest research and development center outside the US.
