Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Supreme Court extends Ashish Mishra’s bail till July 11

Lakhimpur Kheri Case: The Supreme Court has expressed satisfaction over the speed of hearing of the Lakhimpur Kheri case. Refusing to order continuous hearing, the court has said that the lower court cannot be ordered for daily hearing. Doing this will affect the hearing of other pending cases. Along with this, the court has also extended the interim bail granted to the main accused in the case, Ashish Mishra, till July 11.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and JK Maheshwari has said that the next hearing will be held in July to review the matter. Ashish, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, is the main accused in the case of killing of farmers who were crushed by a vehicle in 2021. On January 25, the court granted interim bail to Ashish for 8 weeks. While granting interim bail to Ashish, the court had imposed a condition not to stay in UP or Delhi. Now the same order has been extended.
