Manipur Violence: Tension is once again increasing in Manipur and recent incidents are increasing this tension further. There was heavy firing on farmers by Kuki militants, which has created an atmosphere of fear and instability in the area. This incident took place in Thamanpokpi village of Imphal East district, where farmers were suddenly targeted by the attackers. Many farmers narrowly escaped the firing, but the incident has raised concern and anger in local communities.

On Thursday (7 November 2024), news of the death of a woman came to light in Thamanpokpi village. The woman’s name was Sapam Sophia, she was working in the field to harvest paddy when suspected militants attacked her from a distance of about 100 meters. shots fired. The woman died on the spot in the firing. The body remained lying there after the firing, but village volunteers later took it out fearing another attack.

Meanwhile, in Jiribam district too, a woman was allegedly assaulted and an attempt was made to burn her alive. Police have started investigating both these incidents and it is believed that this violence may once again be an attempt to destabilize the area. Considering the seriousness of the incidents, the local administration and police are planning to tighten security measures.
