Karnataka Police has summoned party national president JP Nadda and IT cell head Amit Malviya in connection with a tweet allegedly posted by BJP Karnataka against the SC/ST community. Both the leaders have been asked to appear at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru within 7 days.
The notice states that a person named Ramesh Babu came to High Grounds Police Station on May 5, 2024 and lodged a complaint regarding a video posted on BJP’s Karnataka X handle.
The notice said, “The person alleged that the purpose of the video was to create hatred and ill-will against the SC/ST community. A case has been registered in this regard and investigation is underway.” BJP president JP Nadda and party IT cell head Amit Malviya have been directed to appear before the investigating officer at High Grounds police station at 11 am within seven days of receiving the notice.

The Election Commission of India on Tuesday (May 7) had written a letter to the nodal officer of the X platform, directing it to immediately remove the objectionable social media posts from BJP Karnataka. In the notice given to the nodal officer, it was said that the post to Karnataka BJP is a violation of the existing legal framework.
According to ANI report, on May 4, Karnataka BJP had posted an animated video on social media platform X, in which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were seen targeting the party over the reservation dispute. After this, the Congress party filed a complaint with the Election Commission on May 5, alleging that Karnataka BJP wants to incite riots.
