Narak Chaturdashi 2024: The festival of Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. It is also known as Roop Chaudas, Narak Chaturdashi, Chhoti Diwali, Narak Nivaran Chaturdashi or Kali Chaudas. The festival of Narak Chaudas or Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated a day before Diwali and a day after Dhanteras. Chhoti Diwali is also celebrated on this day.

Abhyanga Snan (Snan Muhurat)
Prophet Dr. Anish Vyas told that the process of taking bath by applying mud on the body before sunrise on Narak Chaturdashi is called Abhyang Snan. This time the timing of Abhyanga bath is from 05:28 am to 06:41 am on 31st October.
Mythological story
Dr. Anish Vyas told that according to religious texts, there was a mighty king of demons named Bali. He wanted to take over heaven by completing 100 yagyas. Then Lord Vishnu took Vaman incarnation and went to him and asked him to donate three steps of land. Bali accepted the donation. Then Lord Vaman assumed huge form and took control over all the three worlds. Then King Bali prayed to him, ‘You measured my entire kingdom in the period from Kartik Krishna Trayodashi to Amavasya. Therefore, the person who donates a lamp for Yamraj on Chaturdashi should not be tortured by Yama. Lord Vaman accepted this request for sacrifice. Since then, the tradition of donating lamps for Yamraj on Narak Chaturdashi has been going on.

On the day of Narak Chaturdashi, special worship is done in the Vaman form of Yamraj, Shri Krishna, Kali Mata, Lord Shiva, Hanuman ji and Vishnu ji. Install the idols of all these Gods and Goddesses in the north-east corner of the house and worship them properly. Light incense lamps in front of the deities, apply kumkum tilak and chant mantras.
