Maharashtra Politics: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut made a big claim on Sunday (April 16). He said that NCP chief Sharad Pawar had recently told Uddhav Thackeray that his party would never join hands with the BJP, even if someone from his party wanted to join the BJP. Why not take a personal decision.
Raut made these remarks in the party’s mouthpiece Saamana amid speculation that senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar may leave the party and join the BJP. However, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Ajit Pawar termed such speculations as baseless and denied meeting Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah in Mumbai on Saturday night.
‘Family being targeted’
In Maharashtra, NCP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and Congress are part of the opposition alliance MVA. Sanjay Raut claimed that Sharad Pawar told him in a meeting with Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday that no one wants to switch sides, but the family is being targeted. If someone decides to leave the party, it will be a personal decision, but as a party, we will never join hands with the BJP.
‘Joining BJP would be political suicide’
Sanjay Raut further wrote that there is a lot of anger among the people of Maharashtra against the state government. Thackeray and Pawar feel that anyone joining the BJP would commit political suicide. He further claimed that Pawar said in the meeting with Thackeray that he wanted to tell the defectors that the ED and CBI files would go off the table and go to the shelves, but would never be closed.
