Jaya Bachchan was in tears after seeing Rekha-Amitabh romancing onscreen

Rekha and Amitabh worked together in 9 releases and 1 unreleased film. In the year 1976, Rekha and Amitabh were seen together for the first time in the film ‘Do Anjaane’. Fans loved the on-screen chemistry of both. But do you know that Jaya Bachchan had tears in her eyes once she saw Rekha and Amitabh romancing on screen. This was disclosed by Rekha herself.

Rekha made a shocking disclosure
Rekha had told in an interview that when Jaya Bachchan saw her and Amitabh romancing onscreen in Prakash Mehra’s film ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, she had tears in her eyes. Let me tell you, this film of Prakash Mehra proved to be the last film in which Rekha and Amitabh appeared together. This film proved to be a super hit on the big screen.

Rekha had revealed this in an interview given to Stardust in the year 1978. Rekha had said, “Once, I was watching the entire (Bachchan) family from the projection room when they came to watch the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Jaya was sitting in the front row and she (Amitabh) and her mother -Father was sitting in the row behind her. He couldn’t see her as clearly as I could and during our love scene, I saw tears running down his face”.

It is said that Rekha and Jaya used to be each other’s first good friends, but due to this later there was a rift between the two. However, Rekha had categorically denied any such rumour.
