Jasprit Bumrah On Captaincy: Rohit Sharma was elected the regular captain of Team India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and Jasprit Bumrah has been made his deputy. Rohit Sharma will not be available in the first match of the series to be played in Perth, in whose absence Jasprit Bumrah will take charge of Team India. Bumrah participated in the press conference before the start of the series, where his tone seemed to have changed.
Bumrah described himself as different from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Actually, Bumrah described his style of captaincy as different from Rohit and Kohli. Bumrah said that he has his own way of captaincy.
In the press conference, Bumrah said, “It is good fortune. I have my own way. Virat was different, Rohit was different and I have my own way. I do not see it as a position. I like to take responsibility.”
Bumrah further said, “I had talked to Rohit earlier. But after coming here, I got some clarity about captaincy.
Apart from this, Bumrah said that fast bowlers are better captains. Giving the example of Pat Cummins, he told how he is doing a wonderful job.
Bumrah said, “I have always advocated making fast bowlers captains. They are better in cleverness. Pat has done a brilliant job. Many models have been seen in the past as well. Kapil Dev and many other captains in the past. Hopefully a new tradition will begin.”
Bumrah took over captaincy in 2022
Let us tell you that Jasprit Bumrah once took over the captaincy in 2022. Team India played a rescheduled Test against England in 2022, in which Jasprit Bumrah took charge of India.
