Sambhal Shahi Masjid History: Along with Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi, Shahi Jama Masjid located in Sambhal of UP, also known as Babri Masjid, is also claimed by the Hindu side that it is Harihar Temple. This case is going on in the court, the Hindu side says that this mosque has also been built by demolishing the temple. But, what is its truth? Is this mosque really a religious place or has it been built by demolishing a Hindu temple? ABP News investigated this question, in which a shocking revelation came to light.
To find the answer to this question, the team of ABP News started investigating historical and archaeological evidence and we came across the exclusive report of the Archaeological Survey of India of the year 1879 in which there is a complete survey of Jama Masjid of Sambhal. . This report was prepared by the then ASI officer ACL Carle after surveying the Jama Masjid of Sambhal in 1875. The title of this report is Tours in the Central Doab and Gorakhpur 1874–1875 and 1875–1876.
Shocking revelations in old reports
In pages 25 and 26 of the report, ASI had found in its survey that the pillars inside and outside the mosque were from an old Hindu temple, which had been hidden by applying plaster. ASI had given the reasoning behind its claim that during the survey, the ASI officer found that the plaster had been uprooted from one of the pillars of the mosque and on surveying behind the bricks, it was found that there was a red colored pillar behind it, which was not only part of the mosque. These pillars are ancient and belong to Hindu temples.
Apart from the pillars of the mosque, ASI had told in its survey report that the dome of the mosque was renovated by Hindu emperor Prithviraj Chauhan, and the Hindu pillars of the mosque are completely different from the Muslim pillars.
The biggest argument of ASI on the construction of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid by demolishing the Hindu temple was an inscription of the mosque. Referring to this, ASI had written in its report that the inscription present in the mosque on which it is recorded that its construction was completed in the year 933 Hijri and the name of the person who converted it from a Hindu temple to a mosque is Mir Hindu Beg, who is the son of Babur. Was a courtier of.
Baburnama also mentions converting the temple into a mosque.
Apart from the ASI report, the petitioner from the Hindu side, Harishankar Jain, while mentioning the Baburnama in his petition, has claimed in the petition that in the English translation of the Baburnama, it is recorded that the conversion of the Hindu temple of Lord Vishnu into a mosque was done by Babar named Mir Hindu Beg. The courtier had done this as is also mentioned in the inscription.
Confirming this claim of the Hindu side, historian and director of the Indian Council of Historical Research, Dr. Omji Upadhyay, while talking to ABP News, said that from Baburnama to Tarikh-e-Babri, there is many evidences that the Jama Masjid of Sambhal was dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Baburnama, which was built after demolishing the temple, was written by Babar himself and which has been translated into English by Beverage. It is clearly written on page number 687 that on the orders of Babar, his courtier Mir Hindu Beg Hindu temple of Sambhal was converted into Jama Masjid.
According to Dr. Omji Upadhyay, there are many such examples in history where Islamic invaders converted temples into mosques, it was not because there was shortage of space, this was done because the invaders had to show in front of the Hindu population of India that they They have slaves and did not do this with just one or two, but the history of more than 1800 mosques is recorded in the books in the past which were once Hindu temples.
While talking to ABP News, petitioner from the Hindu side Harishankar Jain said that after Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura, Bhojshala, Qutub Minar and now Sambhal Mosque, there are more such mosques which have been built by demolishing Hindu temples and in the coming days He will also fight for it in the court.
Muslim side rejected Hindu side’s claim
However, in this entire matter, the arguments of the Muslim side are different from the Hindu side, historians and archaeological evidence. Mohammad Zafar, president of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid, claims that the mosque was not built by demolishing any temple and there is no trace of a Hindu temple in the mosque. Expressing surprise at the order of Court Commissioner survey of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid, Mohammad Zafar claims that this has happened for the first time, a court case comes on the same day, hearing takes place on the same day and after the petition is accepted, Court Commissioner survey is ordered. And the survey also starts the same night.
The first phase of the Court Commissioner survey in Sambhal’s Jama Masjid was held on Tuesday and in the coming day again the survey team will go to the mosque and complete the survey work and submit its report to the court.
