IMD Rain Update: It is raining heavily in many states of the country since two days. Due to the rain from the plains to the mountains, people are in trouble. Due to the incessant rains, about 20 people have lost their lives in different parts of the country so far. The Meteorological Department has predicted more heavy rains in the next few days. A red alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next 24 hours.
The Meteorological Department said on Sunday (July 9) that the rains in the first eight days of July compensated for the lack of rain across the country. So far in the monsoon season, a total of 243.2 mm of rain has been received, which is two percent more than normal. Due to continuous rains in the national capital Delhi for two days, many areas have been waterlogged. Because of this, severe jam was also seen.

A holiday has also been declared for schools in Delhi on Monday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that keeping in view the torrential rains in Delhi for the last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for one day on Monday.
40 years record broken
The IMD said Delhi received 153 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Sunday, which is the highest in a single day in the month of July since 1982. Due to the interaction between Western Disturbance and Monsoon winds, it is raining heavily in North-West India including Delhi. There has been heavy waterlogging in many areas here. A 58-year-old woman has died after the roof of her flat collapsed due to rain in Delhi.
Water entered the houses of MPs
Due to heavy rains in Delhi, there was waterlogging at many places. Because of this, water also entered the house of MP Ram Gopal Yadav. In view of the heavy rains, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the LG of Delhi and took an update. The Home Minister also spoke to the LG of Jammu and Kashmir and took an update on the Amarnath Yatra which was suspended due to heavy rains. During this rain, maximum damage is being seen in the hilly states.
Broken storm on hilly areas
In Rampur, Himachal Pradesh, 1500 cusecs of water has been released from the Nathpa dam after the water level in Sutlej river rose. Due to continuous heavy rains in the state, the road has been damaged in Kangra. In Shimla, the Chaba bridge was washed away due to the rise in the water level of Sutlej river.
Many cars have been washed away in the flood caused by heavy rains in Kasol area of Kullu. Due to the rains, the years old bridge of Aut-Banjar in Mandi collapsed. Due to the rise in the water level of the Beas river in Mandi, the Panchvaktra temple was also submerged in it.
Five people died due to heavy rains in Himachal
Officials said that a house collapsed due to landslide in Kothgarh area of Shimla district. In which three members of the family died. In Kullu city too, a landslide damaged a temporary house in which a woman died. In another accident, a person was buried under the grip of a landslide on Saturday night at Katian in Chamba tehsil.

Heavy rain alert has been issued in Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kullu, Mandi of Himachal Pradesh. Orange alert has been issued in Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur and Yellow alert has been issued in Lahaul Spiti. Due to fresh snowfall in Losar of Lahaul Spiti, a huge drop in temperature has been recorded.
Situation bad in Jammu and Kashmir too
The road was washed away near the T-5 tunnel at Panthyal in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, after which the highway has been closed. An alternative route is being made for the movement of people. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Zero Bridge in Kashmir and interacted with officials of Irrigation and Flood Control Department. Due to torrential rains for the third consecutive day in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, a red alert was issued for Kathua and Samba districts as well as for the lower catchment areas.

A spokesman of the department said that a red alert has been issued for Kathua, Samba and lower catchment areas of Jammu and Kashmir, as the risk of flood or flash flood has increased. All concerned have been advised to be vigilant during the next 24 hours.
The tent of langar service for Amarnath pilgrims was washed away due to heavy rains in Mehar area of Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. Senior Superintendent of Police Mohita Sharma told that we are trying to start the yatra as soon as possible. Chenab river is cutting the undercurrent due to which cracks have come. As soon as this came to our notice, we had asked the langar authority to withdraw from there. He is in the process of shifting to another place. All the people who were having food there have been saved.
Eight people died in Uttarakhand
Similar is the condition of Uttarakhand as well. The state has received 2.5 to 3 times more rain than normal in the last 24 hours. Red alert has been issued for many districts of the state. The government has appealed to the people to travel with caution as there is a possibility of landslides. For July 11-12, there is a possibility of very heavy to very heavy rainfall in Kumaon and its adjoining areas like Garhwal, Chamoli areas.
Eight people were killed and six others injured in vehicle accidents and house collapses due to landslides during heavy rains in Uttarakhand on Sunday. The officials gave this information to the news agency Pte. In view of the bad weather, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked the people to avoid unnecessary movement while instructing the administration to be vigilant. A jeep returning from Kedarnath in Muni ki Reti area of Tehri Garhwal district went out of control in the grip of a landslide and fell into the river Ganga, drowning six pilgrims on board. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Inspector Kavindra Sajwan said that with the help of divers, the bodies of three pilgrims who were victims of the accident have been recovered while a campaign is being conducted to search for the other three.
Heavy rains in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh as well
The havoc of rain is being seen in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh. Incessant rains in Chandigarh’s Mohali have led to water-logging in housing societies in Dera Bassi town. Vehicles were submerged due to waterlogging. National Disaster Response Force teams are present on the spot. Gulmohar Extension of Dera Bassi is waterlogged. NDRF has rescued about 82-85 people.
Chandigarh IMD scientist Ajay Kumar Singh said that Between 8 am yesterday to 8 am today, 302.2 mm of record rainfall has been recorded in Chandigarh. It is raining in almost every district of Haryana and Punjab. Monsoon is going to be fully active in the next 24 hours as well. After this the intensity of rain will reduce. Landslide occurred due to heavy rains at Morni Hills of Panchkula, Haryana.
Heavy waterlogging in Gurugram, schools closed
It is raining heavily in Gurugram, adjacent to Delhi. Due to heavy rains, there has been waterlogging in many areas. Civic authority teams are engaged in draining the water. The district administration has appealed to all the people to come out of the house only when necessary work is done. Apart from this, the Gurugram district administration issued an advisory saying that all government and private schools (including play schools etc.) coming in Gurugram district are instructed to remain closed on 10 July.

Two people died in Uttar Pradesh
The southwest monsoon is in full swing in Uttar Pradesh as well. Heavy rains were recorded on a large scale in the state on Sunday. The water level of the rivers has increased due to rains for the last several days. According to the report of the Central Water Commission, the water level of rivers including Ganga, Ramganga, Yamuna and Rapti has increased in the state, but it is still below the danger mark.
A woman and her six-year-old daughter were killed while her husband was injured when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rains in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district in the early hours of Sunday. Out of the total 75 districts of the state, about 68 rains were recorded. The districts of western Uttar Pradesh received more rainfall than the districts of central and eastern parts of the state. On the other hand, due to incessant rains in the northeastern state of Assam, due to the increase in the water level of the Dikari river, a flood-like situation has prevailed in many villages of Dhemaji.
