2000 Rupee Note: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that the Rs 2000 note will be phased out after September 2023. After this decision, the opposition parties are besieging the Modi government. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC President Mamata Banerjee has also called it a hoax.
Mamta Banerjee tweeted, “So it was not a 2000 rupees bang but a billion dollar fraud for a billion Indians.” Wake up my dear brothers and sisters. The pain we have suffered due to demonetisation cannot be forgotten. The one who caused this pain should not be forgiven.
So it wasn’t ₹2000 dhamaka but a billion dollar dhoka to a billion Indians. Wake up my dear brothers and sisters. The suffering we have endured due to demonetisation cannot be forgotten and those who inflicted that suffering shouldn’t be forgiven.

The Reserve Bank of India said in a statement released on Friday (May 19) evening that the Rs 2,000 notes currently in circulation will remain legal tender till September 30. Along with this, RBI has asked banks to stop giving Rs 2,000 notes with immediate effect.
RBI has asked the banks to provide the facility of depositing and exchanging these notes till 30 September. From May 23, Rs 2,000 notes can be exchanged and deposited in banks. However, only notes worth Rs 20,000 will be exchanged at a time.
This move of RBI is slightly different from that unexpected announcement of 8 November 2016. Then from midnight itself, the then notes of 500 and 1,000 rupees were put out of circulation. At the same time RBI had issued Rs 2,000 notes.
