Israeli strike in northern Gaza: Israel’s war against Hamas has harmed Gazans the most. At least 30 people were killed in an Israeli attack in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza early Sunday. The director of a hospital gave this information.
The Israeli army said in a statement that it carried out several strikes on terrorist targets in Beit Lahiya. The statement said that efforts are underway to evacuate civilians from the war zone. The Israeli army has again intensified attacks in northern Gaza, saying that Hamas terrorists have regrouped there.
Israel’s military action in Gaza has been going on for more than a year. On October 7 last year, in response to a major attack by Hamas in Israel, the Jewish State launched a military operation in the Gaza Strip occupied by the Palestinian group. About 1200 people were killed in the Hamas attack while more than 250 people were taken hostage. Israeli attacks have caused massive destruction in Gaza and killed thousands of Palestinians.
Israel’s actions in Gaza constitute genocide – UN
Amidst the fierce Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, a special committee of the United Nations said that Israel’s policies and methods of war in Gaza are ‘consistent with genocide’. The UN humanitarian office (OCHA) said that in the past two days, six attempts to deliver aid to northern Gaza have been blocked.
The Committee was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1968, whose responsibility is to review the human rights situation in the West Bank, including the occupied Syrian Golan, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.
According to the Committee, Israel has deliberately used starvation as a tactic of war through its siege of Gaza, obstruction of humanitarian aid, and targeting of civilians and aid workers.
The committee expressed displeasure that Israeli soldiers in Gaza treated Palestinians, including women and children, in a cruel and humiliating manner. There are allegations that Israeli soldiers shared pictures of Palestinian women on social media, in which they were mocked and insulted.
The committee also condemned the disinformation campaign against the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and said that efforts are being made to deliberately silence the media and reporting on the violent conflict in Gaza. The report of the committee will be presented during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly on 18 November 2024.
