Israel kills Hezbollah leader Mohammed in airstrike

Israel Attacks Hezbollah: A Hezbollah official said that the organization’s chief spokesperson Mohammad Afif has been killed in an Israeli airstrike. This attack was carried out on Sunday (17 November 2024) in the central area of Beirut. The officer gave this information on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to give information to the media. The attack was carried out in the Ras al-Naba’a area in the center of the Lebanese capital. The IDF had not issued any evacuation warning before this attack.

Mohammed Afif was one of Hezbollah’s most prominent spokesmen. He became very active after the Israeli attacks in September this year. Apart from this, his role also became important after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Afif’s speeches and public appearances during this period strengthened Hezbollah’s position.

Revenge for the attack on PM Netanyahu’s house?

Earlier, there were attacks on the private house of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Three people have been arrested in this regard. Israel is considering this as the work of Hezbollah. In the West Asian media, the attack on Mohammad Afif is being seen as revenge for the attack on PM Netanyahu’s house.

The incident is still under investigation

There was no report of any damage in the incident and a joint statement by security agencies said that Netanyahu and his family were not at home at the time. However, intelligence agency Sin Bet said that they are investigating this incident. The Sinn Beit chief said, “We will not accept violent activity against symbols of the government. Every case will be taken with the utmost seriousness.”
