IPS Officer Suspended For Broke Teeth: In Tamil Nadu, an IPS officer has been suspended for torturing accused persons by pulling out their teeth from plas. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin told the state assembly on Thursday (March 30) that he had ordered the suspension of Balveer Singh.

Stalin told the gathering that further action would be taken after the magisterial inquiry report. The Chief Minister said that there is no place in the police stations to compromise on the violation of human rights. After several allegations of custodial torture surfaced, the Tamil Nadu government removed IPS Balveer Singh from his post and put him on the waiting list.

What is the matter?
Balveer Singh, a 2020 batch IPS officer posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, is accused of torturing 5 accused in a case of assault about ten days ago. Singh was accused of pulling out teeth from people’s plas and also causing damage to a person’s private part. The accused in the assault case are out on bail. Some of them took to social media to allege custodial torture, besides Singh has been accused by many.

Balveer’s video was becoming increasingly viral on social media, after which action has been taken against him. In the video, the victim Chellappa had told about the torture done by Balveer Singh. Along with this, the victim has also accused the police of threatening her. Chellappa said in the video that the police officer forbade him to tell the court that he was beaten up.
