Jofra Archer entered in the shortlist players for IPL 2025 mega auction.
On one hand, while the fans are waiting for the start of the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, on the other hand, everyone is also waiting for the mega auction of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL to be held on 24 and 25 November. This mega auction, which lasts for 2 days, is being organized this time in Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia, for which 1574 players had registered, after which a total of 574 players were shortlisted for the mega auction, in which England’s Everyone was surprised to see the name of fast bowler Joffra Archer not included, but now his name has also been included.
ECB gave NOC to Archer after talks with BCCI
When Jofra Archer’s name was not included in the shortlist of players, there were reports that the England and Wales Cricket Board had withdrawn Archer’s name keeping in mind the Test series against India to be held next year and other important tournaments. Now, according to the news of ESPN Cricinfo, after the talks between ECB and BCCI regarding this, Archer has been given NOC by the ECB to include him in the list of shortlisted players. Archer has a central contract with the England Cricket Board till the month of September next year, due to which it is taking decisions keeping in mind his workload. Archer last played a Test match in the year 2021, after which he has not been able to make a comeback in this format till now. The ECB hopes that he will be seen playing for the team in the Test series against India next year and then in the Ashes series to be held at the end of the year.
Archer was part of Mumbai Indians team last time
Talking about Joffra Archer, Mumbai Indians made him a part of their team in the mega auction held in the year 2022 for Rs 8 crore, but due to elbow injury, he was out of the entire season. After this, in the year 2023, Archer could play only 5 matches and due to the problem of elbow injury reoccurring, he was out of the field for a long time. Archer was a part of the Rajasthan Royals team in the IPL season played in UAE in the year 2020 and he took 20 wickets in it. Till now Archer has taken 48 wickets in 40 matches.
