Meanwhile, a board source quoted by PTI has said that there was not much debate on the selection of Sanju Samson, but there was a lot of debate on keeping Hardik Pandya in the team. This means that the entire selection committee i.e. selectors were not unanimous regarding Hardik Pandya. Rinku Singh, in a way, was unlucky.

Only two players out of these three were to be selected

Quoting sources, it has been revealed that only two among Rinku Singh, Shivam Dubey and Hardik Pandya were to be selected. In such a situation, Hardik and Shivam won and Rinku had to stay outside. However, what was definitely done was that Rinku was kept in the team as a reserve player. Not only this, earlier there were reports that Rishabh Pant could be made the vice-captain, but in the end it was decided that Hardik Pandya would take the responsibility of vice-captain. Sanju Samson has performed well as a batsman and captain for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He was selected as the second wicketkeeper after Rishabh Pant. Yuzvendra Chahal, who last played for Team India in August 2023, has been kept as the second wrist spinner along with Kuldeep Yadav. Gujarat Titans captain Gill and Kolkata Knight Riders aggressive batsman Rinku have been kept in reserve. Trust has been expressed on Yashasvi Jaiswal.

This courageous decision of the selection committee

Meanwhile, the opportunity given to Shivam Dubey by the selection committee by excluding Rinku Singh is being called a courageous decision. This has happened when Rinku Singh is in excellent form. It is said that Ravi Bishnoi was also in the race for selection, but Chahal got preference over him. Even in IPL, Yuzvendra Chahal is in the race for Purple Cap, while Bishnoi is not able to do anything special. Spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is in the team with Axar Patel as his backup.
