Sudha-Narayana Murthy’s Trust: Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy’s trust have donated Rs 7.5 crore. This money will be used for the maintenance of books and manuscripts written in Sanskrit and Prakrit languages. Murthy’s Trust, a non-profit organization of Murthy’s family, has announced a donation of Rs 7.5 crore to the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) to research and preserve rare books and manuscripts in Sanskrit and Prakrit.
Major pillars of India’s cultural heritage BORI
According to media reports, Murthy, who was the head of Infosys Foundation, laid the foundation stone of the proposed building in Pune last week. He said that BORI is a 105 years old institution and a major pillar of India’s cultural heritage. It has produced a huge amount of intellectual research papers and books. He said that every professor of BORI is a great scholar. I have been enthralled by the intellectual work of two books, ‘Critical Additions to the Mahabharata’ and ‘Kane’s Theology’, both of which are very dear to me.
The building will be modern
Murthy said, “As times have changed, people want to know more and more about our culture. Now they can take online classes and interact with the staff to gain knowledge. Hence, Murthy Trust has It has been decided to support BORI with a new and modern building which will be dedicated to carry forward the cultural heritage of India.
Center will have 200 seat class
According to media reports, Murthy Center of Indic Studies will be constructed under this grant given by Infosys Foundation. It will be an 18,000 sq ft classroom with 200 seats. There will be academic and research buildings, a modern auditorium for holding lectures and an audio-visual studio for digitizing ancient books and manuscripts.

The upcoming Murti Center for Indian Studies can house more than 60 scholars. The institute has now entered into education also. Arrangements will be made to stay more than 60 scholars in the Murti Center of Indic Studies under construction.
