Indian Chinese soldiers celebrated Diwali: Soldiers of India and China exchanged sweets on several borders including the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on Thursday (31 October) on the occasion of Diwali. Army sources gave this information. This traditional practice was observed a day after the withdrawal of troops from the two countries at the two conflict points of Demchok and Depsang in eastern Ladakh.

It is believed that relations between China and India have become cordial. An army source told PTI, “On the occasion of Diwali, soldiers of India and China exchanged sweets and Diwali wishes at several borders along the LAC. According to sources, this exchange took place at five Border Personal Meeting (BPM) points including LAC.

Troops complete disengagement at conflict points
On Wednesday (October 30), an army source said that troops from both sides have completed the disengagement process at the two conflict points and patrolling will start at these points soon. The source had then said that after the disengagement, the verification process was going on and the modalities of patrolling had to be decided among the commanders. A soldier said that “talks will continue at the local commander level.”

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in Delhi on October 21 that after several weeks of talks, an agreement between India and China has been finalized and this will resolve the issues of 2020. In this context, this exchange is considered an important step towards strengthening relations between the two countries.
