Indian Air Force trainer aircraft crashes in Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar, both pilots safe


IAF Surya Kiran Trainer Aircraft Crash: A Surya Kiran training aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed on Thursday (June 1) near Makali village in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. Both the pilots including a female pilot are safe. The IAF officer said that a Court of Inquiry has been ordered to find out the cause of the accident.

He told that this plane crashed in an open field. Both the pilots aboard the plane had safely jumped from the plane before the accident. This trainer aircraft took off from the Air Force base in Bangalore and it crashed in the morning. District officials said Tejpal and Bhumika suffered minor injuries. No one died in this.

Pilots were on routine exercise

The Air Force tweeted that the pilots were on a routine exercise when the accident happened. Both the crew members ejected safely. Senior officers of the district and a team of the Air Force have reached the spot.

MiG-21 crashed in Rajasthan

Last month, three people were killed when a MiG-21 fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan. The fighter jet was on a routine training sortie when it crashed. In this accident, the pilot narrowly survived and had minor injuries.

An investigation was launched to investigate the cause of the accident. Two weeks after the accident, the Indian Air Force decided to ground the aging fleet of the Soviet-origin aircraft. This aircraft has been involved in more than 400 accidents so far.
