United Nations: India abstained from voting on a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution exempting humanitarian aid from sanctions. The biggest reason for this is the neighboring country Pakistan. India distanced itself from the proposal saying that blacklisted terrorist groups including neighboring country (Pakistan) can take advantage of such humanitarian immunity.
Let us inform that, except India, all the UNSC members supported the resolution. 14 out of 15 countries voted in favor of the resolution. India was the only country that opposed this proposal. This spread was introduced to be banned by the US and Ireland, with humanitarian efforts exempted. Washington stressed that the resolution “will save countless lives”.
What is humanitarian aid offer
In this resolution, it was decided that the provision of money, other financial assets, economic resources, goods and services is necessary to ensure the timely delivery of humanitarian aid. This will not be considered a violation of the sanctions committee and asset freeze imposed by the United Nations Security Council.
