India vs Srilanka Shikhar Dhawan: India has announced the team for the series against Sri Lanka. Shikhar Dhawan did not get a place in this. He has been dropped from the ODI team. Dhawan’s ODI performance this year was not good. BCCI gave him many opportunities. But they could not succeed. Dhawan was also made the captain for the ODI series against New Zealand. Team India had to face a 1-0 defeat in the three-match series.
The biggest reason for Dhawan’s ouster from Team India was his poor performance. He averaged 34.40 this year and had a strike rate of 74.21. Dhawan was also included in Team India for the three ODI series against Bangladesh. But he failed here too. Dhawan was dismissed after scoring 7 runs in the first ODI. After this, he returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs in the second ODI and was dismissed after scoring 3 runs in the third match. He was dismissed for 28 and 3 against New Zealand. Although scored 72 runs in Auckland ODI.
The strong performance of Shubman Gill and Ishaan Kishan was also behind Dhawan’s exclusion from Team India. Both these players have confirmed their place by performing well. Gill had a strike rate of 102.57 in the year 2022 and average was more than 70. Kishan has recently scored a double century in ODI cricket. He has become the fourth Indian batsman to do so.
Team India gave Shikhar a lot of opportunities. But they proved to be continuous failures. For this reason, he was dropped from the series against Sri Lanka. The ODI series will be played between India and Sri Lanka from January 10. The first match of the series will be held in Guwahati. After this, the second match will be played in Kolkata on 12 January. The last match of the series will be played on 15 January.
