Imran Khan gets big relief from Islamabad High Court, lifts ban on live telecast of speech


Islamabad High Court On Imran Khan: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has got a big relief from the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court has set aside the order of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banning the live broadcast of Imran Khan. According to the information received, the High Court has lifted the ban on the broadcast of Imran Khan’s live speeches till 5 September.

To remind you that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insan Party chief Imran Khan had allegedly threatened government entities and made provocative speeches during a rally in Islamabad, after which the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) banned satellite TV channels. But the live telecast of his speeches was banned.

What did the High Court say?

According to media reports, while hearing a petition filed by 69-year-old Imran Khan, the Islamabad High Court, Chief Justice Athar Minallah, said that the regulator has “violated its jurisdiction”.

Next hearing will be on September 5

Simultaneously, the Islamabad High Court also directed the PEMRA to appoint an officer who could justify the ban in the court. At the same time, the next hearing in this case will be held on 5 September. The ban on the live broadcast of the speech has also been imposed till September 5.

Relief was also given from Anti Terror Court

It is worth noting that the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has also got relief from the Anti Terror Court just a few days ago. Imran was accused of threatening a sessions judge during a public rally. In this case, the Anti Terror Court has stayed his arrest till 1 September.
