Actually, the Parliament of Iran has made a new law regarding the dress code of women. Under this law, if women do not wear hijab, then they may have to pay a fine of up to Rs 49 lakh.
The media confirmed these provisions of Iran’s new law by quoting Iran’s MP Hosseini Jalali. Jalali said that apart from fines, if girls and women do not follow the new dress code, their passports will be confiscated. Along with this, their internet usage will also be banned.
Iran government’s new strict law on hijab
This new law is a big blow for the people who have been protesting against the hijab in Iran for the last 6 months. In 2022, here open-minded women and girls took to the streets to protest against wearing the hijab. During this, many girls were killed by the police and fundamentalists. Several youths under the age of 18 were killed amid anti-hijab protests in Iran. The Iranian government was reprimanded on these incidents all over the world.
Death sentence given to minors
Due to the increasing demonstrations of girls and women, the Iranian government started to worry. In the last few months, women have taken to the streets in many big cities including Tehran, the capital of Iran, the big demonstration started when a woman named Mahsa Amini was killed in police custody in Iran, this incident is of September 2022, after Widespread anti-hijab demonstrations started in the country.
‘Women don’t wear hijab because of less rain’
The fanaticism in the name of Islamic laws and regulations in Iran can be gauged from the fact that Mohammad Mehdi Hosseini, a close aide of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, had said that the reason for less rain is that women do not wear hijab. He argued that if all women wear hijab then Allah will make it rain.
