ICC On Franchise Cricket: IPL teams can include maximum 4 foreign players in their playing XI. While the remaining 7 players are Indians. However, apart from this, there are different rules in other leagues. However, now the ICC has given a suggestion. According to the suggestion of ICC, a maximum of 4 foreign players should be included on the lines of Franchise Cricket IPL. Even now in IPL, no team can include more than 4 foreign players in the playing XI.
Impact player rule for the first time in IPL
However, for the first time in the IPL 2023 season, the BCCI implemented the impact player rule. According to this rule, a team can bat or bowl with a player who is not a part of the playing XI, but later that player can be used. Actually, this rule can be understood in such a way that if a player bats, any other player can be bowled in his place. For example, if Suryakumar Yadav bats for Mumbai Indians, Piyush Chawla can be made to bowl in his place.

What is the rule in IPL playing XI at the moment?
However, now according to the suggestion of the ICC, a maximum of 4 foreign players should be included on the lines of Franchise Cricket IPL, but it will be interesting to see in which leagues and for how long this rule applies. Actually, apart from IPL, there are many big global T20 leagues like Australia’s Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League of West Indies, South African T20 League. At present, the playing XI of an IPL team can have a maximum of 4 foreign players, while the number of Indian players is 4.
