Justice V Srishananda: Karnataka High Court judge Justice V Srisananda, who called an area of Bengaluru as Pakistan, has expressed regret over his comment. Justice Srisananda today called the representatives of the Bar Association to his court and said that his intention was not to comment on any particular community. He assured the High Court lawyers that he will not make such comments in future.
The judge also clarified the insensitive comment he made while reprimanding a woman lawyer. He clarified that whatever he had said was about the party of the case for whom the woman lawyer had appeared. Representatives of the High Court Bar Association requested Justice Srisananda not to comment on topics outside the case while hearing it. The judge assured them that he would take care of this.
Supreme Court took cognizance of the comment made on the woman lawyer
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the judge’s comment. A bench of 5 senior-most judges of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice has sought a report on the matter from the Registrar of the Karnataka High Court. It is expected that after Justice Srisananda’s statement today, this matter will not escalate anymore.
