It was also predicted that during this time winds would blow at a speed of 70 miles per hour. Nearly 70 flights departing and arriving at UK airports had already been canceled before Saturday afternoon due to Cyclone Kathleen. Due to this many flights were also diverted.
Plane flights canceled due to storm
According to a report published on The Telegraph, flights from Belfast City Airport were also cancelled. Also, many British Airways and Air France services have also been canceled for the time being. According to experts, the storm is the reason for the rising temperatures across Britain. Met Office meteorologist Ellie Glasier, while talking to The Guardian, said that the increase in temperature is due to the storm. Because the location of the storm is towards the west of the UK. He said it was bringing warm temperatures from the continent. This means temperatures in the UK could reach 22°C.
Train services were also affected
Storm Kathleen caused disruption to train services across Scotland. Network Rail Scotland decided to slow down train speeds on several main routes from Saturday afternoon. Besides, railway passengers have also been advised to check their routes before travelling. Due to Storm Kathleen, strong winds are being seen in the UK. Meanwhile, people also had to face power cuts in Ireland. During this period, electricity was cut off to thousands of homes in Ireland. Due to the storm, a lorry which was carrying a crane fell on the road. Also, due to the storm, there was flood in many areas.
