Voting is being held on 288 seats in 36 districts in Maharashtra. 4,136 candidates are contesting in this constituency. Whereas 9.70 crore people of Maharashtra will decide on these candidates.
In the assembly elections held in 2019, there was 61.44 percent voting in the state. In Maharashtra elections, 27.7 percent more candidates have contested the elections than last time.
Many well-known faces are involved in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, including the names of state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former minister Aditya Thackeray and Congress state president Nana Patole.
In this assembly elections 2024, not only two parties are facing each other, but this election is being held between two alliances. Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi are facing each other in this election.
Maha Vikas Aghadi includes Congress, Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena. Mahayuti is contesting on 287 seats out of 288. Candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shinde faction’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP are also included in this alliance.
After casting his vote, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis told the people, “I appeal to everyone that the celebration of democracy is going on and participation in democracy is very important.
Many stars also arrived to cast their votes in Maharashtra elections. Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, his wife and daughter cast their vote at a polling booth in Mumbai.
