On May 29, 2022, at the behest of Lawrence Bishnoi, lodged in Tihar Jail, Moosawala was shot dead by 6 shooters in Mansa district of Punjab. Investigation revealed that his associate Goldie Brar, working from Canada, had carried out the murder conspiracy. Funds worth Rs 50 lakh for the murder were transferred through Hawala network, from which the international reach of Bishnoi’s gang can be estimated. Bishnoi had got Moosawala murdered to avenge the murder of his close associate Vicky Middukheda.

Now with time it became clear that Lawrence Bishnoi, despite being in jail, expanded the gang across the country. Between 2018 and 2022, he purchased 25 guns, including 9 mm pistols and AK-47s, through associates in Uttar Pradesh and these weapons were used not only in the murder of Moosawala, but also in other crimes across the country.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s journey from early life to gangster

Lawrence Bishnoi’s real name is Balkaran Brar alias Ballu. Lawrence was born on 12 February 1990 in Firozpur, Punjab. His father was in the Punjab Police. Lawrence was booked for the first time in a criminal case in 2007 while taking part in student politics during his college days. After which his inclination started moving towards crime. Gradually, Lawrence created a gang among the people, in which notorious names like Goldie Brar and Sampat Nehra joined. Due to Bishnoi’s strategy and ideology, his gang’s network has spread to many states and foreign countries.

Lawrence Bishnoi has set up an organized crime syndicate on the lines of Dawood Ibrahim. More than 700 shooters are involved in this. This gang of shooters is spread in five states of India and countries like Canada, Australia, Italy. The aim of this network is to spread terror through drugs, extortion and violent incidents. In the last few years, this gang has committed serious crimes like the murder of Sidhu Moosewala and Baba Siddiqui.

There was planning to attack Salman Khan

In 2018, Bishnoi had ordered his associate Sampat Nehra to attack Salman Khan in Mumbai. As part of the attack plan, Salman Khan’s Galaxy apartment was recceed and arrangements for long range weapons were also being made. However, Haryana Police arrested Nehra in time. During police interrogation, Nehra confessed to attacking Salman, but this incident raised serious questions about Salman’s safety. After this, Salman Khan’s security was increased.

Operating networks and celibate life from prison

Talking about the working style of Lawrence Bishnoi, he is operating the syndicate from jail itself. Interestingly, he leads a celibate life and has enforced strict discipline in the gang. All members have been prohibited from coming in contact with women, so as to avoid the attention of security agencies. Keeping a fast of silence during Navratri, consuming curd and eating simple food are part of his daily routine. It is believed that during this period Bishnoi gang commits major criminal incidents. Hundreds of pages have been created on social media in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar which are attracting today’s youth towards crime. Youths who want to join the gang are first given small tasks and after that they are included in the gang. Many youth are becoming part of this gang in order to earn money fast, due to which the level of crime in the society is increasing further.
