Players are placed in different categories for the auction. Categories are made on the basis of base price and player’s skill, in which fast bowlers, spinners, all-rounders, batsmen and wicketkeepers are kept separately. Apart from this, categories of capped and uncapped players are also made.
What is bidding war?
Teams have to bid to buy a player and this goes on till there is only one team left to bid. The team which has placed the last bid only gets the player. When multiple teams start bidding for the same player and he goes much beyond the base price, it is called a bidding war.
Who is called unsold player?
Some players are not sold during the auction which are called unsold players. Accelerated bidding is done for these players in the end, in which the whole process is very fast. There is very less time to bid in this and most of the players are sold at their base price only.
