Many disgruntled leaders who left the party of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan have joined hands. Sugar businessman and old friend of Khan, Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) is leading all these dissident leaders.
Tareen may soon form the Isteham-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) with over 120 former PTI leaders and MPs.
Tareen, who started his political career with the politics found in ‘dowry’, is also the most controversial political personality in the politics of Pakistan. Tareen has also been accused of hiding assets abroad.
After this, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had disqualified Tareen. From time to time, Tareen has also been accused of possession of land and post.
Proximity to Tehreek-e-Insaf and Imran Khan
Tareen started his political career in 2002. Till 2011, he served as Special Advisor on Agriculture and Social Sector Initiatives to the then Chief Minister of Punjab, Chaudhary Pervez Elahi.
In 2011, Tareen joined PTI and became the general secretary of the party. After 2017, he parted ways with the party.
Leaders of Imran’s party have made many allegations against Tareen
In 2015, party leader Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed, who conducted party elections in PTI, accused Tareen. He said that Tareen is trying to rig the party elections on the strength of his wealth. After this, Wajihuddin Ahmed had to leave the party.
Will this friend of Imran destroy Imran?
Khan’s old friend and sugar businessman Jahangir Khan Tareen has announced that his party Istehkam-e-Pakistan will contest the upcoming general elections to be held in October. 100 former PTI leaders/workers have joined Tareen’s party.
Tareen said, ‘Today, we promise that we will play our part to rid Pakistan of this present quagmire. He said, ‘Our party will be the party of the common man.
We will fight to fulfill the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam (founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah) and dreams of Allama Iqbal.
Country needs new leadership?
He said that the country needs a strong political leadership which can solve all the current issues including social and economic. Tareen also condemned the May 9 riots, and said that a case should be registered against the culprits or else the houses of political opponents would be attacked in future.
Why there was a stampede in the politics of Pakistan
There is constant instability in the politics of Pakistan. There is extraordinary unrest in the country after Khan’s arrest. A new government was formed in Pakistan on 11 April after Imran Khan was ousted through a no-confidence motion.
The desire of two parties to get power and the interference of the army in the politics of the country has created an economic and political crisis in the country.
Fall of Khan’s government
Imran Khan is the first Prime Minister of Pakistan to lose his post through no-confidence vote. Pakistan’s major opposition parties have been demanding Khan’s resignation ever since he came to power. The parties were describing Khan as ‘selected’ rather than ‘elected’ by the army.
On the other hand, Khan also did not get tired of supporting Pakistan’s army, but later Khan kept blaming the army for his failure.
How did the fracture between Khan and Pakistan’s army come?
After the arrest of Imran Khan, there has been a ruckus all over Pakistan. After Khan’s arrest, massive protests started in many cities of Pakistan. Khan was arrested by Pakistan’s paramilitary forces during a hearing in a corruption case. This was the same army whose apple of eyes used to be Imran Khan.
The first and biggest standoff between Khan and the Army was over the transfer of the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in October 2021. Khan refused to sign the transfer of the Director General. Khan’s relations with Inter-Services Intelligence were very deep.
He also wanted to make the ISI chief the army chief. But he could not do so and Lieutenant General Nadine Anjum got this post. Imran’s enmity with the Pak army started from here.
Imran Khan For not fulfilling his promises to the public, he blamed the entire army. Due to inflation and corruption, the people of Pakistan also started getting angry about Imran and the army. On the other hand, Pakistan’s army also started thinking again about Imran.
Meanwhile, differences arose between the then Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed.
There are many challenges before the new government.
The new government headed by PML-N’s Shahbaz Sharif is facing many tough challenges, not just from Khan.
Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz’s brother and three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan, has already been accused of corruption. Pakistan’s economy continues to decline. The stock market has also lost its value and the government is not able to take any decision.
Shahbaz and Nawaz’s team have different views. And there lies a shaky coalition of rival parties, who will fight against each other in the next election.
