Because of this, he also got addicted to these medicines. But Richard also had an affinity for spirituality. After getting addicted to drugs, he could not understand how to reconcile between drugs and spirituality. To solve this problem, he reached the shelter of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj.

Due to this miracle, Richard became a devotee of Neem Karoli.

When Richard met Baba Neem Karoli, he not only got rid of his addiction but also became a devotee of Baba and started working as a social worker. Richard was initiated by Neem Karoli Baba and Baba himself gave Richard the name of Ramdas.

Richard in his book ‘Miracle of Love’, referring to Baba’s miracle, has written that, when he met Neem Karoli Baba for the first time, he was not able to tell him about his problem. But after many meetings, once Baba himself asked him, where is that medicine? Richard was completely shocked and on Baba’s request, he gave the vial of intoxicating medicine LSD to Baba. Baba ate three pills from the vial and he was not affected by its intoxication, whereas one pill of LSD is enough for an adult person.

After this incident, Richard went back to America and after four years he met Baba. This time also Baba himself asked Richard for that medicine and ate four pills keeping them on his tongue. But this time also the pills had no effect on Baba.

Baba answered the question going on in Richard’s mind after consuming these intoxicating pills that nothing has been kept in intoxication. If you want to get intoxicated by something, then do it for spirituality and social service. There is no greater intoxication than this.

This message of Neem Karoli Baba not only had a deep impact on Richard’s life but also changed the course of his life. After taking initiation from Baba, he became Ramdas and started working for social service and devoted his entire life to spiritual education. In this way, by the miracle of Neem Karoli Baba, even a foreign addict became a devotee of Baba.
