Basti News Today: Allahabad High Court has given a historic decision regarding passport renewal. After this decision, those people will get benefit, against whom the process of making passport gets stopped when criminal cases are registered against them.
In fact, while hearing the petition of Gola Pandey, a resident of Basti district, Allahabad High Court has ordered the authorities to renew his passport. The court said that if the decision in a criminal case is pending then renewal of passport cannot be stopped.
Petition filed for non-renewal
Allahabad High Court, while hearing the petitioner’s petition, made harsh remarks regarding passport renewal. The High Court has said that if a criminal case is pending then renewal of the passport cannot be stopped. In such a situation, the court instructed the passport officer to renew the passport.
Gola Pandey, a resident of Basti, had filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court. In this he has demanded the concerned officer to take a decision on non-renewal of passport. An FIR has been registered against the petitioner in the city police station. Because of which his passport is not being renewed. Passport has expired.
What did the court say?
In this regard, Gola Pandey’s petition was heard in the Allahabad High Court, on which the High Court gave its verdict and ordered the passport officer for renewal. This order was given by the division bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice Vipin Chandra Dixit to petitioner Gola Pandey’s advocate K. l. Given on Tiwari’s petition.
The Indian Government’s counsel opposed the petition. Citing the Pawan Kumar Rajbhar vs Union of India case, the court said that renewal of passport cannot be stopped when criminal proceedings are pending and disposed of the petition.
