Hindustan Aeronautics: Public sector defense company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has got Maharatna status. It has become the 14th company to reach this milestone. This company, working under the Department of Defense Production, had a turnover of Rs 28,162 crore and profit of Rs 7,595 crore in the financial year 2023-24. After the decline in the company’s stock for some time, now due to HAL becoming a Maharatna, there is every possibility of a rise in its stock on Monday.
Finance Ministry approved Maharatna status of HAL
The Department of Public Enterprises has announced that the Ministry of Finance has given Maharatna status to HAL. This proposal had already received the approval of the Group of Ministers. It is counted among the big companies in the defense sector. After getting Maharatna status, the company will now be able to take most of its decisions on its own. This will not require government approval. With this, HAL projects will be able to progress faster.
Government chooses Miniratna, Navratna and Maharatna
The Government of India has created three categories for well performing companies. They are given the status of Miniratna, Navratna and Maharatna at different levels. With each status achieved, the power of the company management keeps increasing. Apart from investment, he can also take many big decisions without the approval of the government.

Till now the Government of India has given permission to BHEL, BPCL, Coal India, GAIL, HPCL, Indian Oil, NTPC, ONGC, Power Power Grid, SAIL, Oil India and PFC have been given the special status of Maharatna.
